FRE 221 - Intermediate French Conversation3 credit hours - Three hours lecture weekly; one term. Develop interpersonal communication, presentational speaking, and interpretive listening skills in French at the intermediate level. Enhance listening skills, pronunciation, and intonation. Discuss current events and popular culture in the Francophone world. Taught in French.
Prerequisite(s): FRE 212 or four years of high school French or permission of department chair.
Note: Not for native speakers.
Course Outcomes:
- Develop strategies for building active vocabulary for speaking in French
- Communicate in French on an interpersonal level in social settings and real-world situations
- Present ideas and opinions researched from a variety of sources
- Listen to spoken French in the interpretive mode
- Identify major movements in contemporary French and Francophone societies
