GER 221 - Intermediate German Conversation3 credit hours - Three hours lecture weekly; one term. Develop interpersonal communication, presentational speaking, and interpretive listening skills in German at the intermediate level. Enhance listening skills, pronunciation, and intonation. Discuss current events and popular culture in German-speaking world. Taught in German.
Prerequisite(s): GER 212 or four years of high school German or permission of department chair.
Note: Not for native speakers.
Course Outcomes:
- Develop strategies for building active vocabulary for speaking in German
- Communicate in German on an interpersonal level in social settings and real-world situations
- Present ideas and opinions researched from a variety of German language sources
- Listen to spoken German in the interpretive mode
- Identify major movements in contemporary German-speaking societies
