RUS 212 - Intermediate Russian 23 credit hours - Three hours lecture weekly; one term. Master intermediate vocabulary and grammar structures. Read short poetry, fiction, and/or non-fiction in Russian. Discuss Russian culture.
Prerequisite(s): RUS 211 or three years of high school Russian or permission of department chair.
Note: Not for native speakers. Typically offered OL; fall and spring terms.
Course Outcomes:
- Demonstrate correct pronunciation, inflection, and intonation of Russian sounds
- Communicate directions, reservations, travel plans, and details of towns and cities in spoken Russian
- Develop active and passive Russian vocabulary related to leisure time, travel, weather, and the urban environment
- Manipulate intermediate-level Russian grammatical constructions related to declensions governed by specific prepositions
- Comprehend spoken Russian on topics relating to numerical expressions, leisure activities, and travel
- Develop intermediate-level reading comprehension skills in short literary forms, print media, and social media
- Discuss representative topics in contemporary Russian culture
