HIT 210 - Computerized Medical Office

3 credits - Three hours weekly; one term.
Learn the basic administrative functions and procedures performed in a medical office, including entering patient insurance and health information, health data entry, insurance billing and coding, claim submission and adjudication, scheduling appointments, basic electronic accounting functions, such as patient ledgers and generating financial reports. Class will be held in computer laboratory.

Prerequisite(s): Eligibility for ENG 101 /ENG 101A .

  2. Establish patient templates and perform patient scheduling
  3. Use medical terminology correctly
  4. Query data for clinical and patient functions
  5. Differentiate the roles of various providers and respond to their information needs

  7. Utilize multiple applications of software to maintain operational functions, such as EXCEL, word processing, graphic, presentation, e-mail
