ART 248 - Intaglio Printmaking 2

3 credit hours - Two hours of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term.
Build upon knowledge and skills acquired in ART 148 . Learn how to create different etchings including color, deep, lift ground and soft ground techniques. Develop personal forms of expression while exploring new printmaking methods. Lab fee $85.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Understand the innate characteristics of intaglio printmaking as an art medium, such as plate preparation; image creation on a plate; plate inking; and plate, paper and press interactions.  
  1. Demonstrate a deep understanding of contemporary and global historical technical intaglio skills and materials, including but not limited to hard ground, soft ground aquatint,  drypoint, and engraving.
  1. Develop personal goals through individualized interpretations of course projects.
     
  2. Communicate and assess visual concepts verbally during critique and in response to lectures.
