DAN 211 - Intermediate Ballet 1

2 credit hours - One hour of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term.
Further study of classical ballet with emphasis on execution of movement and more complex work and combinations. May be repeated once for a total of four credit hours.

Prerequisite(s): DAN 112  or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Review basic steps to ensure continued progress in ballet.
  2. Improve their retention of choreography.
  3. Demonstrate correct arm and head placement for each level.
  4. Increase sense of advance musicality.
  5. Complete ballet terminology written exam.
  6. Choreograph barre combinations with correct counts and terminology.
