Purpose: This program is for students to pursue career options in the health fitness industry; commercial/corporate fitness specialist, personal trainers, health promotion, community health, sports medicine, kinesiology/sports conditioning, or other related allied health career pathways.

Additional Program Requirements
Students must earn a grade of C or better in all program requirements. Consult with an academic advisor to ensure the most effective choice of courses to prepare for transferring to a four-year institution. Elective credits must be chosen with the approval of the department chair or program coordinator.

Computer Competency Requirement
All students in associate degree programs must demonstrate competence in computing and information technology (a computer competency requirement ). Students may satisfy the computer competency course requirement simultaneously as they satisfy the computer technology general education course or with an elective.
Satisfied by SOC 111 requirement.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Develop basic content knowledge in sciences, health, behavior change, fitness, care and prevention of injuries to successfully complete the program’s learning objectives.
- Apply emerging technology in the health, fitness and exercise industry.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of the English language.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of speaking skills
- Recognize the importance of cultural diversity and appropriate modes of social interaction within the field of health, fitness and exercise.
- Apply national standards, legal and ethical responsibilities in personal training, health coach, and care and prevention of injuries.
- Apply basic assessment and design of exercise recommendations for special populations and various age groups.
- Demonstrate safe and effective methods of exercise.
