Title of Letter of Recognition: Pathway to Teaching, Letter of Recognition
Award: Letter of Recognition
Total Credit Hours: 9
Purpose: This three-course sequence is appropriate for those individuals who have already completed a bachelor’s degree and wish to pursue a career in teaching at any level. The courses contained in Pathway to Teaching are among those required by the Maryland State Department of Education* (MSDE) and will provide a foundation of knowledge in preparation for a career in education. It is recommended that all participating students consult with MSDE*.
*MSDE has the governing authority to grant teacher certification in the state of Maryland.

Entrance/Admission Requirements

Participation in the required fieldwork experience is contingent upon satisfactory completion of the criminal background check. For complete details, see the Teacher Education and Childcare Institute section of this catalog.

Award Requirements
Students must apply to the Records and Registration office for the letter of recognition after they have completed the requirements.
Degree Requirements
Demonstrated eligibility for ENG 111 . Completion of each of the required courses with a grade of C or better.
