About the Department of Visual Arts and Humanities
Purpose: Provides the fundamental foundation in the visual arts to prepare students for transferring to a 4-year college, university or art school to pursue a bachelor of fine arts degree, by providing substantial instruction and opportunity for students to build a strong portfolio. In addition to the ability to transfer credits toward a bachelor’s degree at a 4-year school students would have the skills to pursue entry-level positions in art galleries, community arts education and apprenticeships or internships with professional artists. Students’ options after completing their transfer degree are dependent on the educational pathway and degree or certificate program that the student selected. The options are many. Some options might include working as an independent studio artist, teaching in the studio arts field and working in a gallery or museum.

Transferring Credits
Four-year institutions may accept up to 60 transfer credits or more. Please work with an Academic and Transfer advisor to determine the maximum number of credits you may transfer. Your advisor will assist you in understanding the four-year institution’s transfer credit policies, active articulation agreements, and the opportunity to transfer credits that are not an AACC degree requirement. For more information, contact your AACC Academic and Transfer advisor and visit the Transfer Partners webpage. About the Planner Symbols
