ACH 216 - Construction Management

4 credit hours - Two hours of lecture and four hours of laboratory weekly; one term.
Explore basic principles and skills required to organize and manage large construction projects.  Examine the professional role and liability during the design and construction process. Focus on the construction project from the organizational management perspective.

Prerequisite(s): ACH 122  or concurrent enrollment in ACH 122  or permission of department chair.

Note: Typically offered OL; fall term.

    • Locate advantageous and cautionary clauses of a construction contract.
    • Describe methods of project delivery.
    • Assess standard contract forms and conditions used in construction.
  • Employ rudiments of pre-construction planning.
    • Construct an effective project management plan.
    • Measure effective standards of project manager leadership.
    • Describe various means of project funding.
    • Appraise requisites for insurance and bonds necessary for construction projects.
  • Formulate a resource management plan for a construction project.
    • Distinguish project coordination roles and responsibilities of project participants.
