ARB 212 - Intermediate Arabic 23 credit hours - Three hours of lecture weekly; one term. Build upon knowledge acquired in ARB 211 . Learn vocabulary and grammar for the purpose of reading, writing and discussing aspects of Arabic-speaking cultures.
Prerequisite(s): ARB 112 or three years of high school Arabic or permission of department chair.
Note: Typically offered at MC and OL; fall and spring terms.
Course Outcomes:
- Identify the components of the Complex Arabic Sentence.
- Define the verbal sentence.
- Distinguish between the three types of present tense in Arabic.
- Identify the patterns for the Arabic verbs.
- Identify the Forms and the Meanings in the patterns of the Arabic verbs.
- Describe the use of the Language in Context.
- Demonstrate understanding of Arabic Context and Arabic Culture.
- Reach a high intermediate Proficiency in all skills of Communication “Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking”.
- Become aware of the rules that govern the Relationships between genders in the Arabic Culture.
- Demonstrate Knowledge of variety topics such as the Friendship, the Relationship, and Marriage in the Arabic Culture.
- Identify the role of the friendship in the life of the individuals in the Arab Society.
- Understand the nature of the relation between genders.
- Recognize the impact of the economy on marriage in the Arab Countries.
