CTS 209 - Digital Forensics 3

4 credit hours - Four hours of lecture and laboratory weekly; one term.
Formerly CSI 209 - Cyber Forensics 3

Explore advanced analysis concepts in digital forensics investigations. Perform forensic analysis of digital evidence retrieved from both current and legacy systems using industry standard commercial and open source tools. Learn how computer forensics analysts focus on collecting and analyzing data from computer systems to track user-based activity that can be internal investigations or civil/criminal litigation. Focus on an in-depth understanding of Windows operating system artifacts. Lab fee $60.

Prerequisite(s): CTS 207  or CJS 207 .

Note: Typically offered OL; fall and spring terms.

1. Investigate the technical characteristics of computer crime offenses.

2. Conduct digital investigations using industry standard tools.
