NUR 122 - Nursing Perspectives 11 credit hour - 15 hours of lecture per term. Acquire an introduction to nursing history and theory, ethical and legal concepts, trends in nursing practice and evidence-based practice, and principles of quality health care.
Prerequisite(s): BIO 231 or BIO 233 or equivalent with grade of B or better.
Corequisite(s): NUR 120 and NUR 121 and BIO 232 or BIO 234 or equivalent.
Note: Typically offered OL; fall and spring terms.
Course Outcomes:
- Professional: The nursing student begins to model the professional role in ways that reflect integrity, responsibility, ethical practices and an evolving identity as a nurse.

- Discuss the history of nursing and selected nursing theorist.
- Begins to explore the legal and ethical influences on the profession of nursing to include the Nurse Practice Act, Standards of practice and the political process.
2. Collaborator: The nursing student begins to explore concepts to better collaborate with peers about providing holistic, safe and quality health care.

3. Communicator: The nursing student begins to model professional communication strategies with the health care team to enhance competence and entry into the health care role.
