RAD 232 - Clinical Radiography 4

6 credit hours - 24 hours of clinical laboratory weekly; one term.
Perform radiologic procedures in a supervised clinical setting to include routine and specialized procedures. Apply advanced patient management skills in the clinical setting. Modify radiographic positioning and selection of exposure parameters based on patient evaluation and condition. Clinical fee $175.

Prerequisite(s): RAD 212 with a grade of C or better.

Corequisite(s): RAD 231 .

Course Outcomes:

Demonstrate advanced and effective patient care including transfer of patients, history taking skills, radiation protection, and other entry-level skills.
Orient to the radiologic technology department in safety procedures and use of specific imaging equipment.
Obtain diagnostic images on routine and special projections of the chest, abdomen, upper/lower extremities, shoulder/pelvic girdles, spine, bony thorax, contrast exams, head, bedside exams, operating room, and shock trauma procedures by following departmental protocols.
Apply radiation safety practices to ensure protection of the patient, personnel and self.
Demonstrate advanced problem-solving, critical thinking, and DEIA related skills in patient care management scenarios to obtain diagnostic images.
Define and demonstrate advanced concepts of health information management including medical terminology and demonstrating understanding of computer usage, security and ethics.
