GER 211 - Intermediate German 1

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term.
This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement. 

Build vocabulary and grammar skills for the purpose of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Discuss aspects of German culture.

Prerequisite(s): GER 112  or two years of high school German or permission of department chair.

Note: Not for native speakers.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Interpret German spoken at normal speed in a classroom situation.

2. Speak German with correct pronunciation and intonation and with sufficient fluency to participate in a classroom conversation.

3. Read German stories and authentic materials at the intermediate level.

4. Write short passages in German relating to daily activities.

5. Identify the various cultures whose native language is German.
