ART 210 - History of Western Art: Renaissance to Present3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Formerly ART 210 - History of Western Art 2
This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement.
An introduction to the development of art and architecture in Europe and the Americas from the Renaissance to the present. Class discussions are supplemented by trips to museums in the Baltimore-Washington area. No previous art courses are necessary.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Identify the major art movements in Europe and America from the Late Medieval period to the 21st century.
- Describe the artistic achievements, development of artistic styles, and notable political and social events of each time period and region.
- Identify major artists from each period/region and their styles.
- Identify iconography (subject matter and meaning) in the art peculiar to a specific time period and region and explain its significance.
- Describe the techniques used in creating different categories of art objects.
- Identify the characteristics that enable us to accurately identify Renaissance and Baroque work.
