BPA 120 - Small Business Management

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term.
Examine the principles and practices involved in planning and operating a small business. Topics include operations and logistics, human resources management, marketing and sales, financing your business, small business accounting, legal responsibilities, and risk management.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe how to manage a small business including human resources, production, operations, and supply chain.
  2. Explain how to conduct sales and marketing for a small business.
  3. Summarize the accounting cycle, bookkeeping process, and basic financial statements.
  4. Explain how small businesses use debt and equity financing.
  5. Identify legal and regulatory responsibilities of small business.
