BPA 142 - Principles of Management3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Explore the managerial functions of planning, leading, organizing and controlling, and the management process. Study, through application, topics to include environmental influences, organization design, motivation, ethics, communication and leadership.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Examine the major functions, roles and skills required by management in today’s dynamic business environment.
- List and describe the different types of management planning, as well as the levels of management involved in each, and the various management planning tools and techniques.
- Describe management’s role in the organization of a business.
- Explain how management functions within an organization to provide the necessary leadership required to ensure that goals and objectives are obtained.
- Explain the importance of the controlling function and be able to connect the use of effective control mechanisms in the management process to meeting management objectives.
