BPA 235 - Introduction to Transportation and Logistics

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term.
Explore principles, concepts, and practices that underpin the efficient movement of goods and people within the global economy. Gain an understanding of the complex systems that drive transportation by studying topics such as the legal and regulatory environment, costing and pricing, major transportation options, managing transportation partnerships, and technologies and issues that will shape the future of supply chain management.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and discuss various modes of transportation and their respective roles in global supply chains.
  2. Recognize the principles of logistics and warehouse management and explain their significance in optimizing the movement of goods.
  3. Explain the fundamentals of international trade and its impact on logistics.
  4. Discuss the latest technological advancements in transportation and logistics.
  5. Explain current issues in the transportation industry including, but not limited to security issues and policy considerations.
