ECO 232 - Business Statistics

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term.
Examine data and apply statistical analysis as an aid in business decision-making. Study includes but is not limited to, basic descriptive statistics, normal distribution and z-scores, sampling, one-sample and two-sample hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, regression and correlation analysis.

Prerequisite(s): Eligibility for any general education math course.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe data, use software to summarize and illustrate data, and interpret data to aid decision-making in business and other contexts.
  2. Identify appropriate statistical procedures to perform analyses that aid decision-making in business and other contexts.
  3. Use computers and software to import data from files or other sources and export results.
  4. Develop confidence intervals and perform hypothesis tests for mean and proportion parameters with and without the use of statistical software.
  5. Test hypotheses regarding two or more variables using t-tests, ANOVA techniques, regression analysis, and other tests with the help of statistical software.
