EDU 220 - Innovation in Education1 credit hour - Three hours weekly; five weeks. Investigate and analyze a variety of college trends, issues, and challenges and the extent to which they impact student learning, student development, and higher education in general. Examine topics such as new instructional models, alternative educational resources, and innovations described as “disruptive” to traditional college practices.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explore and apply the topic of disruptive innovation to the college classroom
- Examine how to facilitate student success by using innovative instructional models and online classroom tools
- Explore Open Educational Resources (OER) for a specific content or discipline
- Create an innovative classroom toolkit to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Discover and share innovative trends relative to student engagement and adult learning
