Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Describe the components for establishing and maintaining an effective childcare program including understanding of needs assessment, program philosophy, financial and budgetary responsibilities, program marketing, and licensing and regulations.
2. Identify issues involved in designating and developing appropriate center space.
3. Develop procedures and policies that foster effective and respectful relationships with staff and clientele.
4. Discuss the influence of marketing and publicity in the operation of the childcare center.
5. Generate necessary administrative documents, including operational forms and outlines of handbooks.
6. Discuss management styles that facilitate effective relationships with staff, board, parents, and children.
7. Complete program and staff evaluation that result in data useful for program and center improvement.
8. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills that foster a positive, supporting environment.
9. Discuss current research relative to administration and supervision of a childcare facility.
