GSS 117 - Healthy Aging for Women3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Wellness Requirement.
Examine the health and wellness related changes of women as they age. Investigate exercise, nutrition, menopause, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, female cancers, mental health, and gynecological health concerns and examine how women can influence these age-associated changes to live a healthy life.
Note: Also offered as HEA 117 ; credit is not given for both GSS 117 and HEA 117 .

Course Outcomes:
- Identify the dimensions of wellness and analyze their impact on women’s health as they age.
- Evaluate and cite credible resources related to women’s health and aging.
- Compare and contrast healthy and risky lifestyle behaviors.
- Explain how a lifestyle that includes exercise, proper nutrition and stress management contributes to healthy living throughout the lifespan and its effect on future generations.
- Analyze research on the biology of aging.
- Identify lifestyle modifications for optimal health and wellness.
