Explore American politics, cultures, economics and the interaction of class, race and gender through reading, critical thinking and writing, from the Civil War to the present.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

3. To dispel some myths and fallacies that have appeared in our nation’s past.
4. Explain primary sources, the concept of causality and the importance of historical interpretation.
5. Use the past as a tool to understand today’s complex and diverse American society.
