HRM 240 - Meeting and Conference Planning

3 credit hours - 45 hours of lecture.
Learn the process of how to effectively plan and execute meetings, events, expositions and conferences and explore the impact they have on the local hospitality and tourism industry.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

1.    Describe the process of meeting planning using industry specific terminology.
2.    Explain the history, purpose and organizational structure of convention and visitor bureaus.
3.    Differentiate the different types of associations, expositions and trade shows.
4.    Discuss current trends and best practices regarding legal and ethical issues in the meeting, special event, convention and exposition planning
5.    Demonstrate professional disposition and workforce skills in all class activities.
