HUS 115 - Fieldwork: Counseling, Assessment and Case Management

3 credit hours - 90 minutes of lecture weekly; 125 hours of supervised fieldwork; one term.
Gain supervised fieldwork placement experience. Implement theories and techniques learned in the lecture class. Lab fee $15.

Prerequisite(s): HUS 101  .

Corequisite(s): HUS 114 or HUS 114H .

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Develop a beginning understanding of the human services delivery processes and experience the professional world of human services.
  2. Develop basic practice skills for working within the human services profession.
  3. Develop basic practice skills in interviewing, assessment, and communication within the human services profession.
  4. Discuss fieldwork issues and experiences with peers.
  5.  Identify the ethical, legal, and professional issues that they may encounter in the helping process.
