LGS 275 - Paralegal Internship3 credit hours - One hour seminar, 10 hours work weekly; one term. Students gain practical experience in the functions and responsibilities of a paralegal on the job. Placement will afford lawyer-supervised opportunities to integrate and reinforce classroom principles and concepts. May be repeated once for credit. Lab fee $12.
Prerequisite(s): 14 credits including LGS 111 and LGS 143 with an overall grade point average of 2.5 or better, including a C or better in all LGS courses, or permission of internship coordinator. LGS 144 and LGS 170 advisable.
Note: Students will be provided with numerous internship opportunities and mentorship in securing placement; however, it is the student’s responsibility to be interviewed and accepted by the internship agency.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Write a resume.
- Participate effectively in an interview.
- Prepare accurate timekeeping records.
- Budget time and prioritize legal projects.
- Successfully apply coursework to perform actual paralegal duties and responsibilities under the supervision of an attorney.
- Work effectively with attorneys and legal staff.
