PHE 233 - Weight Training

1 credit hour - Two hours weekly; one term.
Physiological development through conditioning programs using various weight-training techniques. Lab fee $15.

Course Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and discuss the basic principles of muscle structure and function.
  2. Identify and discuss the principles and methods of resistance training.
  3. Demonstrate the proper usage of various commercial fitness equipment and free weights utilizing appropriate exercise guidelines and spotting techniques.
  4. Design a resistance training program specifically for the individual.
  5. Identify and discuss essential nutrients, tools for healthy eating and guidelines for healthy body composition.
  6. Discuss methods for enhancing and maintaining motivation to exercise.
  7. Discuss how to integrate resistance training into a comprehensive fitness program.
