SOC 122 - Social Problems

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term.
This course meets the Social and Behavioral Sciences General Education Requirement.

Identify and analyze problems in communities and in society. Employ sociological skills and perspectives to formulate creative solutions to relevant problems. Social problems explored may vary from class to class depending on historical and contemporary relevance.

Prerequisite(s): Eligibility for ENG 101 /ENG 101A .

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify social problems facing America and around the globe.
  2. Use an interdisciplinary approach to examine the complex nature of social problems, including their causes.
  3. Identify the problems we as a society face in coping with our social problems.
  4. Apply the practical uses of sociology to propose solutions to social problems.
