RUS 212 - Intermediate Russian 2

3 credit hours - Three hours lecture weekly; one term.
Master intermediate vocabulary and grammar structures. Read short poetry, fiction, and/or non-fiction in Russian. Discuss Russian culture.

Prerequisite(s): RUS 211  or three years of high school Russian or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate correct pronunciation, inflection, and intonation of Russian sounds
  • Communicate directions, reservations, travel plans, and details of towns and cities in spoken Russian
  • Develop active and passive Russian vocabulary related to leisure time, travel, weather, and the urban environment
  • Manipulate intermediate-level Russian grammatical constructions related to declensions governed by specific prepositions
  • Comprehend spoken Russian on topics relating to numerical expressions, leisure activities, and travel
  • Develop intermediate-level reading comprehension skills in short literary forms, print media, and social media
  • Discuss representative topics in contemporary Russian culture
