HTC 203 - Histotechnology Laboratory Clinical 23 credit hours - 160 hours of clinical; one term. Perform advanced histotechnology procedures in a clinical setting. Prepares students for national certification as a histotechnician. Clinical fee $127.
Prerequisite(s): HTC 202 with a grade of C or better.

Course Outcomes:
- Receive, accession, and process tissue specimens, including staining of specimens, into the histology laboratory at a local hospital anatomic histology laboratory.
- Assist with gross examination and frozen section procedures in histopathology.
- Perform immunostaining and other immunohistochemical techniques used in the histology laboratory.
- Prepare dilutions, percent solutions, and molar solutions in the histology laboratory.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols that must be followed to ensure safety in the histology laboratory.
- Demonstrate professional conduct and interpersonal communication skills with the clinical site laboratory personnel, other health care professionals, and the public.
- Recognize the responsibilities of other laboratory and healthcare professionals and interact with them with respect for their jobs and patient care.
- Exercise principles of management, safety, and supervision, as the primary analyst making specimen- oriented decisions on predetermined criteria, including a working knowledge of criteria values.
