BPA 255 - Accounting Information Systems3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Survey accounting information systems (AIS) concepts and explore the following topics: transactional processing concepts and core AIS applications; control frameworks used to secure AIS applications and processes and strategies for implementing or upgrading AIS applications. Satisfy the requirements of the new CPA evolution model and/or gain additional knowledge in the area of the development of appropriate accounting systems.
Prerequisite(s): BPA 241 and either CTA 100 or its equivalent, or permission of the department chair.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the role of accountants as business analysts.
- Develop data modeling and implementation skills.
- Evaluate internal control systems.

- Develop data analytics skills through the use of Microsoft Excel and Tableau.
