ELL 314 - High Intermediate Reading and Writing4 equivalent hours - One Term This continuing education course is designed for high intermediate level non-native speakers of English and provides instruction on developing proficiency in reading texts and composing strong paragraphs and short essays for academic purposes. Topics include reading critically to improve comprehension of academic fiction and nonfiction texts with a focus on the writing process to compose academic paragraphs and essays in response to reading texts.
Prerequisite(s): ELL 311 or Accuplacer LOEP testing placement.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

4. Utilize the writing process to produce short essays.
5. Practice applying correct grammar and academic vocabulary when revising text.
