ENG 205 - Creative Writing: Portfolio Development2 credit hours - Two lecture hours weekly; one term. Prepare a representative portfolio, with the guidance of a faculty mentor, of the work completed in creative writing classes. This course is intended only for students completing the AA in Fine Arts -Creative Writing Option program. This course should be taken during the student’s final semester in the program.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 200 and two of the following: ENG 201 , ENG 202 , ENG 203 , ENG 204 or permission of the department chair.
Note: Typically offered OL; fall and spring terms.
Course Outcomes:
- Create a portfolio of work that demonstrates content knowledge of Creative Writing, including literary composition and aesthetics, vocabulary for discussing the genre, and a variety of techniques to create effective work.
- Effectively evaluate one’s own work.
- Apply critical principles in selecting work for inclusion in portfolio.
- Revise work as necessary.
- Write introductory essay to collected work.
