BPA 238 - Domestic and International Freight Operations3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Examine current issues and best practices in freight logistics and operations. Explore the intricacies of managing the movement of goods within a single country (domestic) as well as across international borders, fostering a deep understanding of the supply chain and global trade processes. Study topics to include transportation providers, regulation and policy, carrier strategies, costing and pricing, information systems, transportation management, and the negotiation and bidding process.
Prerequisite(s): BPA 235 or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the principles of freight logistics, including key concepts, terminology, and industry trends.

- Identify various transportation modes, including road, rail, air, and sea, and explain their strengths, weaknesses, and appropriate applications.
- Evaluate strategies to optimize transportation budgets and the freight operations process for domestic and international shipments.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks in freight operations, such as cargo damage, theft, delays, and compliance issues.
- Explain the political and economic trends that impact domestic and international freight operations, including customs procedures, trade agreements, and safety regulations.
