MAS 110 - Fundamentals of Massage Therapy7 credit hours - 60 hours of lecture and 90 hours of college laboratory. Formerly MAS 110 - Swedish Massage
Learn musculoskeletal anatomy for the massage therapist, and the basic theory and techniques necessary for administering Swedish relaxation massage. Lab fee $60.
Prerequisite(s): MAS 100 with a grade of C or better; admission into the Massage Therapy Program.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate competency in Swedish massage technique
- Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it particularly relates to the muscular, skeletal and nervous systems
- Discuss the professionalism, legal and ethical issues in practicing therapeutic massage
- Discuss techniques other than Swedish massage in the context of bodywork
- Identify pathological conditions generally as they affect Swedish massage
