Learn musculoskeletal anatomy for the massage therapist, and the basic theory and techniques necessary for administering Swedish relaxation massage. Lab fee $60.

Prerequisite(s): MAS 100 with a grade of C or better; admission into the Massage Therapy Program.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Demonstrate competency in Swedish massage technique
Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it particularly relates to the muscular, skeletal and nervous systems
Discuss the professionalism, legal and ethical issues in practicing therapeutic massage
Discuss techniques other than Swedish massage in the context of bodywork
Identify pathological conditions generally as they affect Swedish massage
