PRT 112 - Elementary Portuguese 23 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement.
Continuation of PRT 111 with emphasis on speaking, reading and writing.
Prerequisite(s): PRT 111 or one year of high school Portuguese or permission of department chair.
Course Outcomes:
- Demonstrate correct usage of Modern Standard Portuguese (Brazilian and/or Continental) grammatical structures.
- Use the present tense of regular, irregular, and stem-changing verbs.

- Use elementary vocabulary in the target language.

- Identify clothing items and materials.
- Demonstrate reading and writing skills.
- Read short, informative paragraphs with cognates.
- Write paragraphs describing everyday activities.
- Write paragraphs discussing future plans and obligations.
- Demonstrate oral skills.
- Interact through conversation at a basic level.
- Demonstrate correct pronunciation.
- Discuss aspects of Lusophoneculture.
- List Portuguese-speaking countries and their capitals.
- Compare everyday Lusophone culture to that of the United States.
