ECO 270 - Data and Analysis Project Seminar

2 credit hours - Two hours weekly, one term
Practice the steps that occur before and after a business analytics, such as proposing projects to address a concern, determining data needs, preparing reports for an appropriate audience, interpreting reports, and recommending action.  Test hypotheses with data related to human resource management, productivity, and marketing. Lab fee $35.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify processes, behaviors, or results that can be improved with the help of a data analysis project.
  2. Develop an informal proposal for an analysis project that could be conducted by a programmer or statistician.
  3. Read and interpret analysis reports concerning one-sample hypothesis tests, comparisons of two or more samples, and linear regressions with categorical variables, and logistic regressions.
  4. Apply results of analysis reports to improve decision making in business, policymaking, or other professional contexts.
