ECO 233 - Data, Sampling, and Analytics3 credit hours - Three hours weekly, one term. Apply topics from Business Statistics to business and professional situations. Perform hypothesis tests with new procedures involving Chi-square tests, multiregression with dummy variables, logistic regression, and time series. Use a software package to develop data management skills such as sorting, subsetting, and cleaning data. Propose and plan analysis projects. Apply results to improve decision making in business contexts. Lab fee $35.
Prerequisite(s): ECO 232 or BPA 232 or MAT 135 and eligibility for MAT 137 or higher.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Propose an analytical project to address a desired improvement in a business situation.
- Identify which data characteristics are needed to perform a given hypothesis test.
- Propose sampling strategies to avoid potential sources of bias.
- Conduct basic hypothesis tests and interpret output from a common statistical software package.
- Interpret results of tests for multicollinearity, heteroskedasticity, autocorrelation.
- Apply results of hypothesis tests for means, proportions, and correlation to improve decision making in business and other situations.
