HTC 205 - Histotechnology Review3 credit hours - Three hours of lecture weekly; one term. Review the aspects of histotechnology learned in the didactic and clinical courses of this program. Apply knowledge and principles during this review to prepare for a histotechnician career and the certification exam.
Prerequisite(s): HTC 201 and HTC 204 with grades of C or better.

Course Outcomes:
- Perform the laboratory mathematics necessary to prepare dilutions, percent solutions, and molar solutions in the histology laboratory.
- State the regulations that must be followed to ensure safety in the histology laboratory.
- Identify all tissue in the body, given histological and anatomical images.
- Apply knowledge of fixation techniques, including basic and advanced. The basic and advanced knowledge includes the knowledge of parameters, reagents, instrumentation, and procedures.
- State the principles of each stain used in the histology laboratory and recall its mode of action, and when and why each stain is utilized.
- State the principles, antigen retrieval, and immunostaining procedures utilized in immunohistochemistry staining.
