About the Department of Computer Information Systems

Purpose: This transfer program provides a solid foundation in the management of information systems for students who either want to transfer to a four-year university or enter the job market as an entry-level Information Technology Specialist. Students who have already selected a transfer college/university should consult with the Computer Information Systems Academic Chair to plan their program and to keep abreast of program changes and updates to the articulation agreements between Anne Arundel Community College and the transfer institutions.

Additional Degree Requirements

A grade of C or better is required in each Management Information Systems Transfer course requirement.

English Composition: 6 credits


Arts and Humanities: 6 credits


Two different disciplines required.

CTP 194  is required.

Biological and Physical Sciences: 7 credits

  2. Apply systems analysis, IS design and project management concepts
  3. Analyze technical concepts in information technology
  4. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  5. Design, implement and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  6. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
