ENG 205 - Creative Writing: Portfolio Development

2 credit hours - Two lecture hours weekly; one term.
Prepare a representative portfolio, with the guidance of a faculty mentor, of the work completed in creative writing classes. This course is intended only for students completing the AA in Fine Arts -Creative Writing Option program. This course should be taken during the student’s final semester in the program.

Prerequisite(s): ENG 200  and two of the following: ENG 201 , ENG 202 , ENG 203 , ENG 204  or permission of the department chair.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of their own creative work.
  2. Apply critical principles to select and organize a portfolio of their best work.
  3. Revise their selected work by integrating critique from instructor into their revision process.
  4. Articulate common themes and techniques in their work.
  5. Contextualize their existing work into their continuing development as a writer.
