NUR 231 - Nursing Perspectives 2

1 credit hour - 15 hours of lecture per term.
Learn to integrate the dimensions of wellness, ethical and legal concepts, trends in nursing practice, and integrate health concepts in preparation to transition from nursing student to graduate professional nurse.

Prerequisite(s): NUR 220 , NUR 221  with a grade of C or better.

Corequisite(s): NUR 230 .

Course Outcomes:
  1. Professional: Upon successful completion of the AACC nursing program, the student will be able to implement one’s role as a professional in ways that reflect integrity, responsibility, ethical practices and an evolving identity as a nurse.



    NUR 231 Course Student Learning Outcome:

The nursing student implements the professional role in ways that reflect wellness dimensions, integrity, responsibility, ethical practices and an evolving identity as a nurse.

NUR 231 Sub Learning Outcomes for Professional:

1.  Analyzes practice situations which involve legal and ethical principles in the development of the professional role. 

2.  Demonstrates strategies and identify credible resources to promote positive self-care through health behavior choices.

3.  Utilizes technology to research and develop a professional development plan.

2. Collaborator:  Upon successful completion of the AACC nursing program the student will be able to collaborate with clients, families and the health care team to provide coordinated care that is holistic, safe and individualized for multiple clients in diverse health care settings.

 NUR 231 Course Student Learning Outcome:

The nursing student integrates concepts of holistic, safe and quality care to optimize health and wellness.  

NUR 231 Sub Learning Outcomes for Collaborator:

1.  Evaluates workplace, economic and political issues as it relates to providing holistic, safe and quality health care.

2.  Examines integrative and complementary therapies as they promote holistic safe health care.

3.  Analyzes wellness dimensions and resources necessary to promote optimal self-care and wellness.

6. Communicator:  Upon successful completion of the AACC nursing program the student will be able to utilize professional and therapeutic communication strategies with clients, families and the health care team to promote positive client outcomes.

The nursing student implements professional communication strategies with the health care team to enhance competence and entry into the professional nursing role. 

NUR 231 Sub Learning Outcomes for Communicator:

1.  Integrates communication strategies to respond t situations involving legal and ethical issues.

2.  Utilizes professional communication strategies to advocate for self, peers and the health care team within the dimensions of wellness.
