CTP 210 - Statistical Programming Using R

4 credit hours - Three hours of lecture and two hours of laboratory weekly; one term.
Install and configure the statistical programming environment. Read data into R, access R packages, write and use R functions, and organize and comment R code. Apply statistical computing in the R programming language.

Prerequisite(s): CTP 160  and either MAT 135 MAT 223 , MAT 235, or ECO 232 ; or permission of Computer Science Academic Chair. 

Course Outcomes:
 

  1. Obtain and evaluate input including file I/O
  2. Describe and use data types and subset R objects
  3. Analyze and solve problems using control structures
  4. Define and use functions on scoping rules, dates and times, R loop, and debugging
  5. Simulate random number and linear model, and use R profiler
  6. Describe the basic ways of collecting and sharing data, and basic exploratory techniques for summarizing data
  7. Obtain hands-on experience through R programing
