DHY 116 - Dental Materials and Procedures

2 credit hours - One hour of lecture and two hours of laboratory weekly; one term.
Examine the chemical, physical, and mechanical properties of materials used in dentistry. Demonstrate the proper application and manipulation of dental materials in accordance with the regulations of the Maryland State Board of Dentistry. Lab fee $250.

Prerequisite(s): DHY 100 , DHY 102 , DHY 104 , DHY 106 , and DHY 108 with a grade of C or better in each course.

Corequisite(s): DHY 110 , DHY 112 , and DHY 114 .

Course Outcomes:

Describe chemical, physical, and mechanical properties used in dentistry.
Demonstrate dental procedures allowed by the Maryland State Board of Dentistry.
Create appliances for preventive oral care and inspect the completed appliance for imperfections.
Demonstrate strategies and techniques used by clinicians to optimize and improve the patient care experience.
