EDU 259 - Assistive Technology for Students with Special Needs

1 credit hour - Three hours weekly; five weeks.
Focuses on the identification of assistive technology, strategies and techniques for implementation in the educational environment for the purpose of accommodating school age individuals with disabilities. Provides techniques using assistive technology to enhance learning experiences for students with special needs.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

    • Identify assistive technology for written expressions needs
    • Identify assistive technology for oral communication needs
    • Identify assistive technology for reading and listening needs

  • Develop an assistive technology technique
    • Customize assistive technology technique to address IEPs.
    • Select appropriate adaptive equipment to meet learning objectives.
